Global Perspectives
Brief Biography
Why, hello there! Bonjour! Salut! I'm Nikole, the GA for the Global Perspectives Academy!

As a former UB undergrad, I'm continuing my own academic passions as a graduate student of Political Science. I'm here to help guide GP students who have a passion for everything "worldly" -- international politics, societies, cultures, languages, cuisines, music, you name it! Learning about other places around the globe can be very fascinating and lead to interests you may have never expected! International opportunities are available at UB -- you just have to seek them out! For example, studying abroad can be one of the best ways to learn about another culture as well as yourself. Also, keep an ear out for cultural events going on around campus through international student associations or departments on campus. :).

If you've got some questions, send me a quick question via e-mail, grab me after the seminar, or even stop by during office hours.

Welcome to UB and the Academies! :)!

I think so too :) Do you think the rest of Environmental Network club (the club Steve and I work with on campus) members could come along to excursions like MAP's in the future? Not all of them are part of the academy or want to be, but is membership a requirement? Hope you're well!
Maybe I'll bump into you at Steve's some day. He was telling me of the wonderful apartment you have downtown. That's awesome, I was thinking of something along similar lines but it fell thru'... Good luck with the semester Nicole, ttys :)

Sure, I'd love some help! I initially joined the academies so I could attend this community farm event that was held today, turns out I couldn't make it!
Oh well, sounds like there's loads of other interesting stuff as well...

Why do you like to frequent the Academies Office in 17 Norton?

Is it the free usage of laptops? Hot chocolate or tea? The tables, comfy chairs, relaxed atmosphere among your friends? I surely do like seeing you; you're the highlight of my job!

NY Power Authority 11.6.09

On Friday, November 6th, the Undergraduate Academies took a trip to the NY Power Authority in Lewiston -- just north of Niagara Falls.

The plant, located about 4 1/2 miles downstream from Niagara Falls, has two main facilities: the Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant and the Lewiston Pump-Generating Plant. Robert Moses, one of New York's most influential planners during the 20th century, was very involved in the planning of the Power Plant -- for instance, unlike our neighbors to the North (Oh, Ca… Continue
