Looking to continue the Academy Experience this summer? Check out some of the upcoming events listed below in the local Buffalo Community.

 

Taste of Asia:  A summer event on UB’s South Campus celebrating different Asian cultures throughout the month of July. A specific country will be featured each Friday. -Learn an easy way to cook a cultural dish -Enjoy free tea and samples of the dish -Have fun with performances and crafts -Celebrate Asian cultures -Network with others at UBAll are welcome to attend.

Buffalo ReUse: Buffalo ReUse, Western New York's only green demolition contractor, accepts tax-deductible donations of building materials from building projects or spring cleaning. Buffalo ReUse dismantles buildings and reclaims materials for recycling or sale to the public. For a demolition estimate, to donate items or for low cost building materials, the ReSource store is located at 298 Northampton Street in Buffalo. Charles Darwin: After the Origin: On view through June 7th, Museum of the Earth: Studying everything from botany to earthworms, Darwin continued extensive biological work throughout his later life, although that work has received far less attention than the work that informed Origin of Species. Across his wide range of interests and expertise, he was always thinking as an evolutionist, wondering how an animal or plant had originated and how it was related to others and to life in general. This exhibition focuses specifically on seven of Darwin's publications that occurred after the Origin. All seven continued to support the theories he laid out in his seminal book. http://www.museumoftheearth.org/index.php

NY Power Authority 11.6.09

On Friday, November 6th, the Undergraduate Academies took a trip to the NY Power Authority in Lewiston -- just north of Niagara Falls.

The plant, located about 4 1/2 miles downstream from Niagara Falls, has two main facilities: the Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant and the Lewiston Pump-Generating Plant.
